As of October 2018, West Virginia had 13 communities or counties participating in the FEMA CRS program, which allows communities to earn discounts for their NFIP flood insurance policy premiums by going above and beyond the minimum measures for flood protection required by the NFIP. Communities get points for activities and measures and are scored into a “class” (the highest class being 1 and the lowest class being a 10). The higher the class, the bigger the discount, which can reach up to 45 percent!
Congratulations to these communities for their hard work! The red communities are new for 2018!
